Things not to tell a pregnant woman...

I am of normal weight, perhaps a bit "voluptuous" due to the lactation induced 36-D's.  My non pregnant size is 8, and I haven't gaind an extraordinary amount of weight.  I am measuring on time, and even a bit small, though not as samll as I measured with Abbey.

And yet I hear:

"Are you sure there is only one baby?"   Ummm.  Yes, I am positive.  I hear that one all the time.

"I don't know much about childbirth, but.... you're not going to make it to January".  Ok dude, yes, I am.  I'll freaking hold the kid in until February if I can just to piss you off.

"You're getting bigger every week!"  Well, I certainly hope I'm not getting any smaller.

"Are you going to get any bigger?"  I would expect to, yes.  I have eleven weeks to go.

"Should you still be at work?"  Where would you like me to be?  I'm not an invalid, I am pregnant.

"That's going to be one hell of a big baby".  Yes, I sure hope so.  The kid better be at least a nine pounder to make it worth my while.

Seriously people, I appreciate the candor, but really, I don't need to be  constantly bombarded with comments on how big I am.  I am big, I am pregnant, I am carrying the baby in my abdomen, it's normal.  I feeel good, I think I look pretty decent, and I have great maternity jeans, so there.

/end rant.

WEll thanks. I think some people just rarely see pregnant women and don't know what to make of it.

In this area I get a lot of looks from people when they see Caro and think another is on the way it’s not that children are taboo but there is a VAST population of Apostolic Lutheran’s who are mainly of Finnish decent(in this area anyway) i.e. blonde hair and blue eyes… I couldn’t be blonder though my eyes are “grayish” anyways they do NOT believe in birth control among other things so there are families as large as 24 members(not exaggerating though this number is rare) but generally between 6-14 children so when ever I go any where I get the look of where are you planning to stop this? I was even asked at a wic appointment if I had more children hiding at home… yes “HIDING” lol

Shrugs ppl need something to talk about no matter WHAT the subject, especially if someone looks happy it is time to go after her.

I think veryone gets them. There is a really stunning woman at work who was harrassed by her colleagues about the twins thing. To me, she looked like a normal, 6 month pregnant woman.

ARG i feel your pain. Or felt your pain. I got those kinds of comments all the time while I was pregnant. I wasn't a huge girl to begin with, a bit chubby but man, I'd swear I was a mac truck when I was pregnant cause all I'd hear was how big I was! Granted, I did get pretty bit in my 8th and 9th month but I was on bedrest and didnt' get those comments then, it was before.
People need to be quiet!!
You look fabulous, you really do.

Thanks Amy. I think we all get the comments, especially from people who have never had children or who are not exposed pregnant women. Is it ever annoying though!?!?!

I hated those comments both times around. Especially since the majority came from women who probably had kids (just 30-40 years ago).

Thanks, and I fell pretty great too, and for the most part, I really love my body during pregnancy!

I showed very late in my forst pregnancy as well and I was so upset because the other girls in my prenatal class were wearing maternity clothes already and I hadn't even put on a pound yet. This time, I popped fairly early.

Uh oh. I just commented on your last entry about how big you were and are you sure there's just one kid in there.

*ducks*

lol

Never again will those comments pass my lips...or my finger tips.

No worries! I know how you meant it, and I actually had a good chuckle to myself about it. I was still smiling about it on my commute home, so thanks for the giggles :-)
